Glaus leaves with tight hamstring
Tuesday April 08, 2003
SEATTLE (AP) Anaheim Angels third baseman Troy Glaus left
Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners in the second inning
with a tight left hamstring.
The injury wasn't considered serious. Glaus will receive
treatment, and manager Mike Scioscia said he could play Wednesday.
``It was a little tight before the game in batting practice,''
Scioscia said. ``We didn't want to take any chances. If you lose a
guy like him for an extended time, it's a big portion out of your
lineup.''
Glaus, the MVP of last year's World Series, grounded to
shortstop in his only at-bat in the first inning. He took the field
for the bottom of the inning but was replaced by Scott Spiezio when
the Mariners batted in the second.
Glaus didn't speak to reporters after Seattle's 5-0 win. He
played 156 games last season.
