Rockies activate Belliard

Monday June 23, 2003

SAN DIEGO (AP) Colorado Rockies infielder Ronnie Belliard returned from his rehab assignment and was activated from the 15-day disabled list before Monday night's game against San Diego.

To make room on the roster, infielder Brent Butler was designated for assignment.

Belliard was placed on the DL on June 3, retroactive to June 2, after spraining his right ankle on June 1 at San Francisco. In a five-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs, he hit .263 with no homers and no RBIs.

Butler hit .211 with a homer and four RBIs in 37 games. He has 10 days to clear waivers.
