Loyola Marymount 76, Long Beach St. 68

LOS ANGELES (AP) Charles Brown had 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to lead Loyola Marymount to a 76-68 victory over Long Beach State Saturday night.

The Lions' (5-3) win was only the fourth time in 18 games that they have defeated the 49ers.

Long Beach State (1-5) dropped its fifth straight game.

Andy Osborn's 3-pointer with 10:10 remaining gave Loyola Marymount its biggest lead of the game at 56-40.

Long Beach State closed the gap to five with three minutes remaining, but Loyola Marymount converted nine of 10 free throws over the final minute and 44 seconds to secure the victory.

Brandon Worthy scored 14 points and Osborn added 12 points and six rebounds for the Lions.

Kevin Roberts scored 9 points and had nine rebounds for Long Beach State.
