Cal Poly SLO 88, Notre Dame de Namur 74

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) Varnie Dennis had 15 points and Jered Patterson added 14 as Cal Poly San Luis Obispo beat Notre Dame de Namur 88-74 Wednesday night.

Six Cal Poly players scored in double figures. In addition to Dennis and Patterson, Steve Geary had 12, Mike Titchenal had 11 and Eric Jackson and Vladimir Lisinac had 10 apiece.

Junior guard Martin Castro scored 15 points to lead Notre Dame de Namur (3-2).

San Luis Obispo (1-1) out-rebounded Notre Dame de Namur 44-29, and the Argonauts turned the ball over 22 times.

The Mustangs erupted for 59 points in the first half and a 29-point advantage at the break. Notre Dame de Namur chipped away at the deficit in the second half, but could get no closer than 14 points behind.
