UCLA's Patterson ruled eligible to play for winter quarter

LOS ANGELES (AP) UCLA forward Andre Patterson was ruled academically eligible after being readmitted to the university Friday.

Patterson, who lettered as a true freshman last season, spent the fall semester at Santa Monica City College and met the academic requirements for readmission to UCLA. He will begin winter quarter classes Jan. 6.

``Our staff and team are delighted to have Andre back with us,'' coach Steve Lavin said in a statement.

Patterson is expected to play Saturday when the Bruins host Portland.

He averaged 2.3 points in 29 games for UCLA last season.
