BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) Alissa Edwards hit a 15-foot jump shot
with 2.8 seconds left to give Oregon a 54-52 win over California on
Saturday.
The two teams had combined to miss seven straight shots down the
stretch before the final basket by Edwards, who finished with nine
points and six rebounds.
Carolyn Ganes had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Oregon
(9-13, 5-8 in the Pac-10).
Leigh Gregory had a career-high 22 points for Cal (8-13, 4-8).
Gregory, a 56 percent free-throw shooter coming into the game,
converted 13 of 15 from the line.
Nihan Anaz finished with 13 points and Timea Ivanyi had 10
points for Cal.
Oregon took an early 13-5 lead, but Cal battled back to go ahead
47-46 with 7:39 left to play. The Ducks forced turnovers on the
next three Cal possessions, taking the lead with 5:41 left and
never trailing again.
