Marian Hossa, Senators, scored twice to set a franchise record with 45 goals and Ottawa defeated Boston, 3-2.

Steve Thomas, Mighty Ducks, scored his second goal with 52.6 seconds left in overtime as Anaheim extended Nashville's franchise-worst winless streak to 13 games with a 2-1 victory.

Ed Belfour became the seventh NHL goalie to win 400 regular-season games as Toronto beat New Jersey 3-2 in overtime Tuesday. Belfour made 38 saves in winning for the 36th time this season and pushing his career mark to 400-262-105 in 15 seasons.

Thrashers defenseman Chris Tamer was suspended indefinitely by the NHL for cross-checking Vladimir Orszagh of the Nashville Predators. Tamer drew a game misconduct Saturday for intent to injure in the second period of the Thrashers' 3-2 victory at Nashville. He hit Orszagh in apparent retaliation for a hit on Dany Heatley by Nashville's Rem Murray.

< ^COLLEGE STAR SIGNS=

Hobey Baker Award finalist Chris Kunitz signed a two-year contract with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Ferris State left wing is expected to join the Mighty Ducks at training camp in September. Kunitz was the nation's second-leading scorer this season with 35 goals and 44 assists in 42 games.

Roman Cechmanek stopped just 10 shots for his sixth shutout of the season and 20th overall as Philadelphia extended their unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2) with a 4-0 win over Columbus on Tuesday.

The New York Rangers' Alex Kovalev scored late in the third period to salvage a 2-2 tie Tuesday night with the rival Islanders, who would have clinched their second straight playoff berth after a seven-year absence, and knocked the Rangers out. Instead each team earned a point, leaving the Rangers three behind the Islanders.

Tomas Vokoun tied a record for most penalty shots faced in a season in the modern era with his fifth, when Anaheim's Steve Thomas scored in the first period of a 2-1 Ducks win Tuesday night. Curtis Joseph, then with Toronto, also faced five last season.

``Honestly, we don't care about them. They're not a factor in what we do.'' New York Islanders goalie Garth Snow after the Islanders and Rangers tied 2-2 Tuesday night. A victory would have eliminated the Rangers and secured the final playoff berth for the Islanders.
