McAlpine has surgery; Kings call up Holland, Schmidt

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) Los Angeles Kings defenseman Chris
McAlpine underwent successful surgery Monday to repair a hernia and
is expected to be out for eight weeks.
McAlpine, 31, has two assists and 24 penalty minutes in 21 games
this season.
The Kings recalled defenseman Jason Holland and center Chris
Schmidt from their AHL affiliate in Manchester, and assigned right
wing Scott Barney there.
Barney had no points in five games with the Kings.
