Juventus, Milan to play Italian Super Cup at Giants Stadium

Saturday June 14, 2003

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Champions Cup winner AC Milan and Italian league champion Juventus will play for the Italian Super Cup at Giants Stadium on Aug. 3.

Juventus won its second straight league title earlier this year. Milan topped AS Roma in the Italian Cup final.

The game will be a rematch of the Champions Cup final last month in Manchester, England. Milan won its sixth title in a penalty kick shootout.

It will be the third time the Super Cup will be played outside Italy. Milan defeated Torino in Washington in 1993, and Juventus topped Parma last year in Tripoli, Libya.

Both teams already arranged preseason visits to the United States, where they will play UEFA Cup finalist Glasgow Celtic, English champion Manchester United and Spanish power FC Barcelona.
