Several injured in bus crash in Riverside
Tuesday December 17, 2002
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) Two people were killed and 26 people
aboard a charter bus were injured Monday in a three-vehicle crash
on Highway 60, authorities said.
Weather may have contributed to the 4:20 p.m. crash, said
California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Whitney.
The driver of a Ford truck was heading westbound in the slow
lane when he suddenly swerved across all lanes, striking the bus in
the carpool lane, Whitney said. The truck then spun out of control
and struck a Honda Civic.
The drivers of the Ford and Honda, who have not been immediately
identified, were killed in the crash.
All 26 people aboard the charter bus had minor to moderate
injuries and were taken to area hospitals, Whitney said. The bus
was registered to Bus Connection Incorporated of Commerce.
