Girl found dead in San Jose

Saturday April 19, 2003

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) The body of a girl in her late teens was found near a San Jose high school by a man walking his dog early Saturday, police said.

``The girl was lying in the bushes unconscious,'' said San Jose police Sgt. Steve Dixon. ``The paramedics tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead on the scene.''

Police said they do not have enough information to identify the body, adding that there have been no missing persons reports relevant to this case. The girl appears to be between 16 and 22 years old.

``We're still not sure what the cause of death was, but we know enough to say it was a homicide,'' Dixon said.

The autopsy will be conducted Sunday, he said.
