Man wanted in girlfriend's killing found in Whittier
Friday June 20, 2003
WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) A man wanted for allegedly killing his
former girlfriend was arrested in this Los Angeles suburb Thursday
after spending nearly a year on the run.
Edward Santana, 52, of Santa Fe Springs was found at a residence
after his case was featured last week on the television show
``America's Most Wanted.'' The FBI named Santana in a federal
warrant charging him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. He
is being held in Los Angeles County Jail on no bail.
Santana is accused of killing his former girlfriend, 39-year-old
salsa dancer Gisselle Rojas. Authorities said Rojas was walking
home last June when Santana allegedly stabbed her to death with a
screwdriver. Rojas had been stabbed 50 times, authorities said.
