Missing child, stolen car recovered in Norwalk

Sunday January 26, 2003

LOS ANGELES (AP) A ten-month old who was inside his family's car when it was stolen was found unharmed Sunday in Norwalk, sheriff's officials said.

An Amber Alert for the boy has been canceled, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The parents of Dino Santos left him inside their Honda Accord with the engine running as they were getting ready to leave a friend's house in the Los Angeles suburb of Compton about 1:40 a.m., sheriff's officials said.

Both the child and the Honda were found in a restaurant parking lot in Norwalk Sunday morning. Norwalk is about 10 miles east of Compton.

Police have not located a suspect in the car theft and abduction.
