Amtrak passenger train crashes into an abandoned car in Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) An Amtrak train traveling crashed into a car abandoned on railroad tracks Sunday, but no injuries were reported, police said.

The train struck the abandoned vehicle about 8:20 p.m. when it traveled through an intersection, said Sgt. Art Wiechmann of the Fullerton Police Department.

``Every once in a while we get someone who turns onto the tracks instead of a side street,'' Wiechmann said.

Police could not find the driver of the abandoned vehicle.

The train was delayed for 20 minutes, but no injuries were reported, he said.
