Freight train derails in Los Angeles, no reports of injuries

LOS ANGELES (AP) A Union Pacific train derailed early Wednesday and spilled about 1,000 gallons of fuel, authorities said. No one was injured.

The accident occurred shortly after 12:45 a.m. in East Los Angeles, said California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Gonzalez. A hazardous materials crew was cleaning the accident site.

No roads were closed in connection with the spill.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
