Man sentenced for beating twin daughters

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) A man was sentenced Friday to nine
years in prison for severely beating his infant twin daughters, one
of whom suffered a dozen broken bones in her first six weeks of
life.
Carlos Gonzalez Jr., 24, of Santa Rosa, pleaded no contest
earlier this year to felony child abuse in connection with the
beatings.
Gonzalez wife, Nicole Antoinette Gonzalez, 21, pleaded no
contest to child endangerement, and will be sentenced next week.
The couple's two daughters, now seven months old and in foster
care, were brought to the hospital at six weeks old with cigarette
burns and numerous bruises. One tot had suffered a dozen broken
bones, doctors said.
Both girls have developmental problems and get regular therapy,
according to a probation report.
