Gary Gelfand

He's back for more...From 1996 to 1999, Gary Gelfand was the Sports Director of Channel 31, then he got the call to go National. CNN offered him a job that was, at the time, "a great opportunity." After a brief stint at CNN/CNN Sports Illustrated, Gary decided "Good Day Sacramento" was a better fit for his broadcast style and personality. "Good Day is much more versatile and the atmosphere is more relaxed and creative," Gary says.

Gary grew up in Chicago and played every sport imaginable. His favorite was football and he dedicated himself to it for ten years. When Gary attended Arizona State University, he realized going pro was not an option, but he needed to stay associated with sports and decided to take the successful plunge into broadcasting.

Gary is the youngest of two boys and his hobbies include playing golf as much as possible, hooping it up for exercise and heading out to the theater for movies (preferably a Robert De Niro flick).
